If you have experienced self-doubt, or too many occasions where you have allowed the negative voices to take over and limit your innovative potential, you can likely recall how those thoughts made you question your abilities…sending you on a downward spiral. Self-belief is the reverse of self-doubt. As cliched as it may sound, we can easily manufacture a lack of belief in ourselves as soon as we buy into fear, or any negative occurrence that can fuel disappointment, disenchantment and disillusionment.
The ability to tap into our innovative potential lies within. By validating our own strengths, we generate positive energy. The reverse is equally true. The more we choose to accept the notion that “bad things always happen”, it becomes increasingly difficult to break the cycle.
Even though we can be consciously aware of our goals and desires, we need to re-train that part of our brain that automatically reverts to a fear-based negative response in order to achieve a different outcome. When your desire to create change is greater than your desire to repeat patterns that yield the same results, you will be ready to respond differently. Keep in mind that the negative thoughts have an impact, both consciously and unconsciously.
I recently had the pleasure of working with a client who works with people who are very ill and may never recover. Her job may rightly be deemed as sad, or even depressing work. However, each day she chooses to brighten up the world of her patients by tapping into her innovative potential. As she described her patient’s responses, it was clear that her thoughtfulness and creativity made the world of different to them, as well as their families. My client is a shining example of an individual who intuitively knows how to make the best of challenging circumstances by accessing her ingenuity.
There is no greater waste of energy than getting up every morning in anticipation of spending another day either expecting the worst, or doing something we hate. On the other hand, when we feel inspired, we can make a difference to our colleagues, or clients and those closest to us. By accessing your innovative potential and validating your strengths, you can create extraordinary outcomes.
